This is a very exciting time for Karl Strauss Brewing Company. With the remodeling of their brewery in La Jolla and future plans for expanding their distribution using new equipment, we are making them this week’s Brewery Spotlight #8.
On Wednesday, Karl Strauss will be hosting Wall St. Brewdown at their brewery in La Jolla. This showcase will celebrate the renovation of this location and debut of Tower 20 Double IPA. For those able to attend this sold-out event, guests will enjoy 5 tasters, unlimited food pairings, a logo pint glass, meet the brewer and brewery tours. The list of brews to choose from includes various Karl Strauss’ seasonal beers like Big Barrel Double IPA and 22nd Anniversary Vanilla Imperial Stout.
This morning, Karl Strauss Brewing Co. installed two 240 barrel fermentation tanks at their location in Pacific Beach. In combination with their new keg machine, they plan to eventually grow their distribution outside of California within the next year with these new tools. Karl Strauss’ beer is currently not distributed past Santa Barbara. In order to stay true to their San Diego roots and maintain consistent taste, their beer is only sold in a few portions of California.
Karl Strauss has used the last few years to improve the taste and quality of their brews. They are regularly working on creating new and exciting beers. Each of their restaurants is used for creating pilot batches of future seasonal releases. While Karl Strauss is developing their out of state distribution for fans in other regions, their priority will continue to be the San Diego craft beer community and delivering constant quality and taste.
At the moment, Karl Strauss Brewing Co. is brainstorming several event ideas for San Diego Beer Week. Instead of spreading their beer throughout the entire week’s showcase, they plan on developing at least one great happening each day. Additional details are still to come. We can look forward to having Karl Strauss’ special releases like Off the Rails Imperial Red Ale and Heavy Petti Double IPA available during SDBW.
