North County’s latest brewery, Aztec / Seven Nations Brewing Company, opened their doors for a soft opening on August 27th. Taking over the old Green Flash facilities did not work out for the brewery, but they had already planned to set up shop off of Sycamore Ave. in Vista – conveniently located between Iron Fist and Mother Earth (if you’re on a brewery crawl). The dual-branded brewery opened up with six house beers – Aztec Blonde, Aztec Red, Aztec Agave Wheat, Aztec Chipotle IPA, Aztec Amber and Seven Nations Bitter Brit. The lineup featured beers true to their styles except for the wheat, which featured organic raw agave nectar, and the IPA which contained healthy amounts of hops with chipotle peppers (without most of the heat). The Seven Nations portion of the brewery will focus on more traditional Celtic and English style beers while the Aztec beers will draw some inspiration from down south of the border. Four guest beers were also on draft to complement the house selection. Growlers and pint glasses are on order and more house beers are on the horizon as the brewery gets settled into their new home.
