\"download_20140602_094946\"<\/a>Thank you to those who entered beers in West Coaster’s first homebrewing contest, as well as our steward (Ryan Fisher) and judges: Brian Trout, George Thornton, Kim Sparrow, Eric Woltz, and Ryan Reschan.<\/p>\n

Competition organizer and cheerleader Brian Trout had the great idea to put together this competition, which required entrants to brew with a local ingredient, more than a year ago. Now we’re looking forward to future competitions with a similar format.<\/p>\n

1st Place<\/span>

\n– Sparkling ale with mango extract addition, fermented with jalape\u00f1os and serrano chilis. Sourced from home garden, Hillcrest farmers market, and Capella Flavors Inc. (San Marcos)
\nPrizes: (1) 55# Bag of Patagonia Extra Pale Malt (Chile) from The Homebrewer and BSG, (2) Free Vials of Yeast from White Labs, (1) BrewMasters Craft Beer Game from White Labs, (1) $50 Certificate for Beer and Food at Bella Vista Social Club, (1) T-Shirt and Private Tour from Mike Hess Brewing in North Park.<\/p>\n
