{"id":22842,"date":"2019-09-27T10:00:12","date_gmt":"2019-09-27T17:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/?p=22842"},"modified":"2019-09-27T10:00:17","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T17:00:17","slug":"3lb-closing-venues-changing-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/2019\/09\/27\/3lb-closing-venues-changing-course\/","title":{"rendered":"3LB closing venues, changing course"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Earlier this month, we reported that <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.3localbrothers.com\">3 Local Brothers<\/a> <\/strong>(3LB) restaurant group was ceasing operation of its <strong>Urge Gastropub and Whiskey Bank<\/strong> brewpub in Oceanside. That news coincided with 3LB\u2019s announcement that it has acquired a 16,000-square-foot space in Temecula where it will install a second iteration of its San Marcos-based <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sm.urgegastropub.com\/\">Urge Common House<\/a><\/strong>. That concept revolves around interactive activities, including bowling, bocce ball and a variety of other games as well as a more family-friendly, cozy setup, whereas the Whiskey Bank revolved more around adult beverages and a speakeasy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this week, news broke that 3 Local Brothers is also bidding adieu to a pair of public venues. The first is a spin-off edition of the group\u2019s first-ever concept, <strong>The Barrel Room<\/strong>, which debuted in Carmel Valley\u2019s Merge complex along with a tasting room for 3LB\u2019s brewing interest, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.masonaleworks.com\">Mason Ale Works<\/a><\/strong>, in May of last year. The second is a combination bar, bottle shop, deli, pizza place and coffee house that has been in operation in Rancho Bernardo for seven years, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brosprovisions.com\/\">Brother\u2019s Provisions<\/a><\/strong>. The Barrel Room\u2019s last day of service will be <strong>tomorrow<\/strong>, while Brother\u2019s Provisions will remain open until <strong>Sunday, September 29<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen we founded 3LB nearly 13\nyears ago, we had no idea the places it would take us.&nbsp;While opening and\noperating all of these places has been an amazing experience that has taught us\nan immense amount about ourselves and this industry, it has become incredibly\napparent to us in the last year that our future is in developing more locations\nlike Urge Common House in San Marcos,\u201d says 3LB partner <strong>Grant Tondro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tondro and company are currently exploring\nareas outside San Diego County as potential sites for future Urge Common House\nlocations. Urge Common House in Temecula is slated to open in\nthe second half of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are in active talks with\ngroups to significantly grow the company but, unfortunately, it comes at the\nexpense of streamlining and focusing.&nbsp;We have no intention of closing any\nmore of our locations.
