{"id":22686,"date":"2019-08-20T08:00:54","date_gmt":"2019-08-20T15:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/?p=22686"},"modified":"2019-08-20T21:11:48","modified_gmt":"2019-08-21T04:11:48","slug":"pacific-islander-brewer-steps-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/2019\/08\/20\/pacific-islander-brewer-steps-down\/","title":{"rendered":"Pacific Islander Beer brewer steps down"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since coming on the scene in 2014, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pibbeer.com\">Pacific Islander Beer Co.<\/a><\/strong> has earned a solid following made up largely of East County residents who appreciate the family-run enterprise\u2019s authentic conveyance of its Hawaiian heritage through beer. From day one, production of the latter has been the sole charge of one individual, <strong>Will Fox III<\/strong>, which makes the news that he is no longer with the business all the more surprising and significant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fox cited differences of opinion with company management as his reason for stepping down in mid-June. Prior to taking up head brewer duties for Pacific Islander, Fox learned the ropes of professional brewing at Oceanside brewpub <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breakwaterbrewing.com\">Breakwater Brewing<\/a><\/strong>. Prior to that, he was a homebrewer, and numerous recipes from his amateur days were later recreated on Pacific Islander\u2019s 10-barrel system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fox\u2019s ownership stake in the business remains in place, but his future beyond Pacific Islander is uncertain at present. He is currently enjoying his first break in a half a decade, but is open to opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back at Pacific Islander, owner <strong>Ku\u2019uipo Lawler<\/strong> is utilizing the services of a brewing consultant who is getting <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.attitudebrewing.com\">Attitude Brewing<\/a><\/strong> expat <strong>Frank Amour Leon<\/strong> up-to-speed with his new environs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other news, the brewery will hold a two-day IPA party on <strong>September 6 and 7<\/strong> revolving around a quartet of Pacific Islander India pale ales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since coming on the scene in 2014, Pacific Islander Beer Co. has earned a solid following made up largely of East County residents who appreciate the family-run enterprise\u2019s authentic conveyance of its Hawaiian heritage through beer.
