{"id":22329,"date":"2019-06-11T08:00:24","date_gmt":"2019-06-11T15:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/?p=22329"},"modified":"2019-06-07T14:15:38","modified_gmt":"2019-06-07T21:15:38","slug":"best-of-beers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/2019\/06\/11\/best-of-beers\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cBest of\u201d collaboration beers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Each year, <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandiegomagazine.com\">San Diego Magazine<\/a><\/em><\/strong> releases a \u201cBest of San Diego\u201d issue, featuring businesses spanning numerous industries, including local craft breweries. This year, to take things a step farther for the latter honorees, the publication teamed with three San Diego breweries\u2014<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coronadobrewing.com\">Coronado Brewing<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eppigbrewing.com\">Eppig Brewing<\/a> <\/strong>and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fallbrewing.com\">Fall Brewing<\/a><\/strong>\u2014to produce a \u201cBest of San Diego\u201d series of beers scheduled to debut over the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>San Diego Magazine <\/em>staff let each\nbrewery run with recipes for distinctly different beers. When it came time to produce\nthem, members of each collaborating brewery worked together during the brew\nday. The project was meant to celebrate a \u201cbest of\u201d feature of the brewing\nindustry\u2014the fact would-be competitors are so willing to collaborate, thus\nmaking the San Diego beer community as special as it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following are the beers each\nbrewery produced:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Coronado Brewing: <\/strong>A classic West\nCoast IPA brewed with Simcoe, Cascade, Chinook and Centennial hops that comes\nin at 7% alcohol-by-volume.<\/li><li><strong>Eppig Brewing: <\/strong>A 5.5% ABV hoppy\npilsner dry-hopped with Simcoe.<\/li><li><strong>Fall Brewing: <\/strong>A 4.3% Berliner Weisse\nlagered with Czech lager yeast and fruited with locally grown watermelons.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Keeping in the collaborative\nspirit, can-design for the beer was a group effort between Fall Brewing owner <strong>Dave Lively <\/strong>and <em>San Diego Magazine<\/em> creative director <strong>Sydnie Goodwin<\/strong>. Packaged product will make its way to numerous\nretailers, but the beers will debut or be featured at the following events:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>July 8: <\/strong>The hoppy pilsner will be tapped\nduring a live recording of the <em>Happy Half\nHour <\/em>podcast at Eppig\u2019s Waterfront Biergarten in Point Loma.<\/li><li><strong>July 19: <\/strong>All three beers will be for sale on\ndraft and to-go during a meet-the-brewers event at Coronado Brewing\u2019s Bay Park\ntasting room.<\/li><li><strong>July 20:<\/strong> Fall Brewing will hold an art show\nat its North Park tasting room featuring classic <em>San Diego Magazine <\/em>covers from the past 70 years.<\/li><li><strong>August 16: <\/strong>All three beers will be poured as\npart of <em>San Diego Magazine<\/em>\u2019s annual Best\nof party at Liberty Station, featuring businesses highlighted in the\ncorresponding issue.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each year, San Diego Magazine releases a \u201cBest of San Diego\u201d issue, featuring businesses spanning numerous industries, including local craft breweries.
