It\u2019s Clint and Molly Stromberg<\/strong>\u2019s strong ties to and residence within La Mesa that led them to select the East County municipality when siting their business there in 2014. That interest, Bolt Brewery<\/a><\/strong>, has grown to include a second location in downtown\u2019s Little Italy, but the Strombergs aren\u2019t finished. Earlier this year, they purchased Mr. G\u2019s Tavern<\/strong>, a La Mesa bar that\u2019s\u2019 been in operation since 1947. While they have run it under that name and concept since, they will soon re-brand it as Bolt Brewery and Spirits<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located on La Mesa\u2019s west end at 7081 University Avenue<\/strong>, the 1,285-square-foot bar will be completely rebranded over the next six months. One thing that will stay the same is its 21-and-over status due to it having a Type 48 liquor license. Bolt\u2019s La Mesa headquarters enjoys patronage from a healthy base of loyal locals, but its public space is entirely outdoor. An indoor option made the acquisition of Mr. G\u2019s attractive to the Strombergs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are\nexcited about the west end of La Mesa. We feel like there is a growing\ncommunity\u2014including ourselves\u2014that would love a fun local hangout with great\nbeer and amazing food,\u201d says Molly Stromberg. \u201cWe love La Mesa and feel like\noffering a second location in this area with a restaurant and indoor space will\nenhance our already loyal following. We are excited to be a part of the\ncommunity\u2019s growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the\nword \u201cspirits\u201d is in the upcoming venues name, Bolt will not be delving into\ndistilling. It simply refers to the location\u2019s full-liquor capabilities, which\nwill remain the same as they are with Mr. G\u2019s. As far as changes, the Strombergs\nplan to overhaul the bar, installing roll-up windows up front and increasing furniture\nand seating capacity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
