Located at <strong>2021 India Street<\/strong>, it\u2019s rather petite (just 698 square feet) but is packed to the gills with the extensive array of diverse and often envelope-expanding beers from the Miramar-based brewing interest. Eighteen taps\u2019 worth, to be exact.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_0159-e1537035000119.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-21072\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_0159-e1537035000119-225x300.jpg?resize=225%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_0159-e1537035000119.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_0159-e1537035000119.jpg?w=768&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Though it&#8217;s in the heart of a community celebrating Italian culture, the interiors are inspired by the <em>hygge<\/em> concept from founder <strong>Mikkel Borg Bjergs\u00f8<\/strong>\u2019s Danish homeland, loosely defined as a cozy or charming atmosphere. Mikkeller uses natural light from tall, street-facing windows, light oak, touches of greenery and simple furniture to convey that aura to guests. The overarching Mikkeller brand operates an interconnected network of bars across the globe. This latest link in that chain takes a bit of inspiration from Mikkeller Bars in Copenhagen and Aarhus, Denmark.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Mikkeller location in Little Italy is extremely exciting, because it gives us the opportunity to reach tourists, restaurant connoisseurs and all craft beer lovers who are unable to come to the brewery further north,\u201d says Brittney Sinha, who manages all the company\u2019s San Diego venues. \u201cThis tasting room is a snapshot of us and allows us to bring our passion for experimental brews to new customers as well as loyal patrons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Little Italy tasting room is <strong>open daily until midnight, opening at noon Sunday through Friday<\/strong> and <strong>10 a.m. on Saturdays<\/strong> to serve patrons of the Little Italy Mercato farmer\u2019s market two blocks away. In addition to draft beers, packaged offerings, including weekly can-released specialties, are available.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the last local venue for Mikkeller. The company plans to add another San Diego satellite to its universe sometime next year. And back at Mikkeller San Diego\u2019s Miramar mothership, the team is planning a renovation of its original tasting room.
