In the same post, we mentioned a breach of contract lawsuit filed by Monkey Paw\u2019s founder against the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe timing of both [the sale and lawsuit] are coincidental, one doesn\u2019t have to do with the other,\u201d Coronado Brewing CEO Brandon Richards said in an interview with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefullpint.com\/beer-news\/coronado-brewing-company-acquires-monkey-paw-brewing\/\"><em>The Full Pint<\/em><\/a>. And Richards told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brewbound.com\/news\/amid-breach-contract-lawsuit-coronado-moves-offload-monkey-paw\"><em>Brewbound<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that the decision to put Monkey Paw on the market did not stem from the pending litigation, but rather was aimed at refocusing attention on growing the core Coronado business.<\/p>\n<p>Richards, who was COO at the time of Monkey Paw\u2019s acquisition, not CEO, also told <em>Brewbound<\/em> that Monkey Paw \u201cis just not something we want to resource, financially, at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richards told\u00a0<em>West Coaster<\/em> that there is interest in Monkey Paw, &#8220;but we haven&#8217;t received an offer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We asked, &#8220;What, if anything, did you learn from running the Monkey Paw brewery\/brand that will help Coronado\/SouthNorte?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI learned that making business decisions can be tough and this is one we have to make to move our business forward,\u201d Richards replied.<\/p>\n<p>There has been no talk of divesting the SouthNorte startup, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/entertainment\/beer\/sd-fi-monkey-paw-20180529-story.html\"><em>The San Diego Union-Tribune.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, we posted news that Coronado Brewing was planning to sell the\u00a0Monkey Paw brand and\/or brewing equipment and space, which they acquired around September of 2017.
