{"id":18504,"date":"2017-10-16T10:50:24","date_gmt":"2017-10-16T17:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/?p=18504"},"modified":"2017-10-16T23:08:02","modified_gmt":"2017-10-17T06:08:02","slug":"san-diegans-fundraise-for-northern-california","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archives.csusm.edu\/westcoastersd\/2017\/10\/16\/san-diegans-fundraise-for-northern-california\/","title":{"rendered":"San Diegans Fundraise for Northern California"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Given many local brewers\u2019 ties to Northern California, the ongoing fires have galvanized fundraising efforts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondchancebeer.com\/events\/fundraiser\/norcal\">Second Chance Beer\u2019s<\/a> Marty Mendiola and Virginia Morrison were planning to spend their fifth wedding anniversary this past weekend in the area. \u201cMarty and I used to visit Northern California at least three times a year when he was still with Rock Bottom, as he managed the brewery at the RB Campbell location, and I have family up that way,\u201d said Morrison. \u201cThus, it holds a very special place in our hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This Saturday they\u2019re hosting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondchancebeer.com\/events\/fundraiser\/norcal\">fundraiser<\/a> in tandem with a celebration of their GABF medals. Russian River&#8217;s Vince and Natalie Cilurzo have strong connections to San Diego&#8217;s professional brewing and homebrewing communities.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">More fundraisers are in the works:<\/span><br \/>\n&#8211; Starting Friday October 13th until the end of November, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fathombistro.com\/home\/\">Fathom Bistro Bait &amp; Tackle<\/a> on the Shelter Island Pier will donate $1 from every Russian River beer, including Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig IPA, to victims\u2019 charities.<br \/>\n&#8211; Tomorrow, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Blind-Lady-Ale-House-94886448115\/\">Blind Lady Ale House<\/a> will donate $5 per glass from each $10 (.5L) pour of Russian River beer to King Ridge Foundation.<br \/>\n&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/eppigbrewing\/\">Eppig Brewing<\/a> will release one of their beers under the Sonoma Pride label this week in the tasting room. 100% of proceeds will go to King Ridge Foundation.<br \/>\n&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftbeerd.com\/collections\/beer-pins\/products\/beer-pin-beer\">Craft Beerd<\/a> will donate 50% of the sales from their Russian River-inspired pin (up to the first 50 pins) to the United Way of Wine Country.<br \/>\n&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mikkellersd.com\/\">Mikkeller San Diego<\/a> is planning a fundraiser (TBD).<br \/>\n&#8211; Russian River (Santa Rosa) and Bear Republic (Healdsburg) are planning special releases of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonomapride.com\/\">Sonoma Pride<\/a>. Check out the website for three ways to contribute.<br \/>\n&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/mailchi.mp\/stonebrewing\/stone-distributing-co-to-aid-californias-fire-victims-through-collective-independent-craft-beer-effort-1342805?e=9b8f068c9e\">Stone Distributing Co.<\/a> will donate a portion of sales throughout the month of October to Direct Relief. Retroactive to October 1, for every case of Bear Republic and Russian River beer sold, the company will donate $0.25; Stone will further donate $0.25 for every case of Stone Brewing beer sold in Southern California; and Stone Brewing will donate $0.15 for every case of Stone beer sold via its wholesale distribution partners throughout the rest of California. Also, the following list of brands distributed by Stone Distributing Co. have committed to splitting a donation of $0.25 per case for the entire month: Avery Brewing Co., Boochcraft, Eel River Brewing, Kern River Brewing Company, MadeWest Brewing Company, Mason Ale Works, Maui Brewing Co., Mikkeller Brewing, Modern Times Beer, Oskar Blues Brewery, Smog City Brewing Company, The Bruery, The Lost Abbey, Victory Brewing Company, and Wandering Aengus Ciderworks.<br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Update:<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/societebrewing.com\/\">Societe Brewing<\/a> will donate a portion of proceeds from Halloween, October 31.<br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Update:<\/em> 100% of proceeds from this coming Saturday&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bagbybeerco\/\">BagbyFest<\/a> in Oceanside will go to King Ridge Foundation.<\/p>\n<p><em>Know of more fundraising efforts?
