Every year, the San Diego Business Journal’s Best Places to Work Awards program recognizes outstanding companies whose benefits, policies and practices are among the best in the region.
Since Pure Project’s beginnings, the company has always strived to use beer as a force for good. Their ethos is to do what’s right, even if it costs more. A member of the 1% for the Planet network, Pure Project gives 1% of its sales to environmental initiatives and focuses on making sustainable choices – both environmentally and internally as an employer with over 40 staff members. Ownership has prioritized creating a gratifying, supportive, and equitable company culture for its employees.
Now, Pure Project has been named a Best Place to Work in 2020 by the San Diego Business Journal.
Awards were given to 100 companies throughout the county in four categories based on their size. Pure Project ranked #12 in the small companies category.
The Award is not only decided by judges based on a variety of factors such as benefits and employee retention, but also by Pure Project’s team members who provide honest feedback when reviewing the organization.
“Having our employees nominate our company for this list has to be one of the proudest moments in my professional career,” says Managing Partner Jesse Pine. “When Mat Robar, Winslow Sawyer and I started this company, we always said we wanted to build something we could look back at and be proud of; a place our employees can make careers out of. But most importantly, a place where all of us enjoy coming to work every single day.”
Pure Project’s recognition as a Best Place to Work is not only attributed to the partners’ initial vision for the company, but largely in thanks to each of their employees who together create a company culture with their presence, passion, energy, and talents.
“I love working at Pure because my opinion and experience is valued and considered,” says Brewer Tyler Potter. “It’s apparent that ownership truly cares about employees and puts us first, and that, to me, is priceless. Also, the beer is fire.”
