Carruth Cellars, San Diego’s largest urban winery, celebrates its 10 year anniversary this month, also California Wine Month. The award-winning producer of California-style wines was founded in 2006 (the flagship Solana Beach location opened in 2010) by owner and head winemaker Adam Carruth, a 20+ year wine industry veteran and San Diego native.
In the last decade Carruth Cellars has grown to operate three San Diego tasting room locations (Solana Beach, Carlsbad Village, Little Italy), plus an Oceanside production facility— bottling a record 25,000 cases of wine in 2019. Primarily sourcing grapes from Northern and Central California, the winery has successfully produced 15 award-winning wines as rated by the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. This July, Carruth Cellars was awarded two Gold and four Silver medals for its wines at Sunset Magazine’s International Wine Competition.
Infusing love and gratitude into every glass they pour, all locations are open daily and just blocks from the beach and steps from Coaster train stations.
What’s next? Carruth Cellars’ Carlsbad tasting room will soon offer a complementary small plate menu (short rib coq au vin, scallops) with the addition of a new kitchen slated for completion by end of this year.
The new Oceanside production facility (opened this spring, across from the Oceanside Municipal Airport) will transform into ’The Hanger’ with the addition of a production brewery, biergarten and wine garden, set to open in 2021.
