After years of construction, Acoustic Ales Brewing Experiment has opened its new location in Carlsbad. Located at 6133 Innovation Way in the Bressi Ranch inland mixed-use development, the brewpub features beers of the original brand as well as a new brand called Carlsbad Brewing. Both entities are owned by the entrepreneurs behind Encinitas Ale House. While the restaurant component is open, brewing is not yet occurring onsite. Beers are being produced at the Mission Brewery Plaza brewery in Mission Hills that Acoustic Ales ceded to Latchkey Brewing, which has since taken it over while continuing to brew for the former tenants.
Vista-based Latitude 33 Brewing, which is best known for its Blood Orange IPA, has applied for a license to open a taproom on the ground level of the recently-opened InterContinental San Diego Hotel at 901 Bayfront Court along downtown’s waterfront, near the historic Santa Fe Depot. Also hoping to open a first floor hotel tasting room is recently established, Scripps Ranch-based Harland Brewing.
In East County, El Cajon’s Creative Creature Brewing is enjoying a fast start from its base of operations abutting URBN restaurant. In March, the company announced it will share a storefront with coffee company Red Hat Coffee at 440 16th Street, in the East Village, and it is currently in negotiations to take over the Santee brewery and tasting room vacated when Council Brewing shuttered last December. That facility is located at 9962 Prospect Street, Suite E, and would provide Creative Creature with significantly increased production capabilities from a batch and barrelage standpoint.
