Two of San Diego’s fastest-growing companies, Modern Times Beer and Consortium Holdings, are teaming to open a coffee-centric venue in the East Village. Located at 631 Ninth Avenue, the “Invigatorium” will serve Modern Times coffee and java-infused drinks. That will be the extent of the brewery-slash-roastery’s involvement as CH (the restaurant group behind Born and Raised, Craft and Commerce, Neighborhood and a bevy of other local eateries and bars) will take the lead as far as venue management and staffing.
More than a year ago, Cismontane Brewing owners Evan Weinberg and Ross Stewart announced they had acquired a patio-equipped building at 239 East Valley Parkway in Escondido. The slow-moving full-service espresso bar and eatery project is still active, but it will no longer go by the name Knø Beverage House. Weinberg and Stewart have dropped the Norse reference in favor of the simpler-to-pronounce Beverage House.
Last month, fledgling hard-kombucha company JuneShine announced it had acquired the 23,000-square-foot production brewery formerly operated by Ballast Point Brewing at 10051 Old Grove Road in Scripps Ranch. Now, it is actively seeking to lease 619 square feet of kitchen space to a food-service tenant. This does not include kitchen equipment. The hope is to have a tenant in place by JuneShine’s targeted opening date of June 15.
