For the second time in as many weeks, a Miramar brewery is announcing it is closing. The week before last it was Reckless Brewing. Today, it is the Miralani Makers District’s Align Brewing. Owner Andrew Heino took to Facebook this afternoon to let fans of the business know of his plans to move from San Diego to Hawaii. In doing so, he shared that the brewery is for sale.
“I want to thank all my friends, family, fans, supporters, and beer community who have made this beer journey of mine, an unforgettable positive experience,” Heino wrote. “As of now, Align is up for sale. (Please serious inquiries only. And please do your research beforehand.)”
Heino opened Align in 2017. It was his second attempt at entrepreneurship at his current location. The first happened in 2013 when he and business partner Chris Chalmers opened Pacific Brewing. After three years, the Stone Brewing alums and long-time friends no longer saw eye-to-eye. Chalmers moved on, leaving Heino to open Align.
A month ago, Heino communicated via The Indie Beer Show podcast that he was working with an undisclosed group of entrepreneurs with brewery-ownership experience on a large buildout for a production facility that would allow all parties involved to expand their product lines. That project never came to fruition.
Heino will hold an event that will both celebrate his six-year anniversary in the Miralani Makers District and serve as a farewell party. That will take place on Saturday, May 11 at Align’s tasting room, which is located at 8680 Miralani Way, Suite 131. Parties interested in purchasing the business can reach Heino via email.
