We have yet to toast the striking of midnight or fake our way through the confounding lyrics to Auld Lang Syne, but it’s time to start looking ahead to 2019, because there are plenty of beer-related activities scheduled for January, including one on New Year’s Day. Peruse these spotlighted goings-on, then check out our events page for a full run-down.
January 1 | The Full Table: “Beer flavored beer” is what Benchmark Brewing is all about—traditional styles brewed with zero adjuncts—but for one special day, they’ll take one of their most popular beers, a Belgian-style Table Beer, and dose it with 15 different ingredients and adjunct combos, which will be offered in three flights of five as well as full pours and growler fills. | Benchmark Brewing, 6190 Fairmount Avenue, Suite G, Grantville, 12 p.m.
January 12 | Third Anniversary: Miramar’s Pure Project Brewing will transform its parking lot into a sprawling beer fest stocked with year-round, rare and cellared brews as well as lounge areas, games, activities, food trucks and music. As if that weren’t enough there’ll be a raffle benefiting Outdoor Outreach plus, two collaboratively-produced anniversary beers. | Pure Project Brewing, 9030 Kenamar Drive, #308, Miramar, 1 p.m.
January 12 | San Diego Brew Fest: Seventy breweries, 150 beers and food trucks…it’s a winning formula that’s fueled this annual fest for eight years. The 2019 edition will include some of the county’s smaller, newer operations, including Helia Brewing, Beach Grease Beer Co., Papa Marce’s Cerveceria and GABF Very Small Brewpub of the Year OB Brewery. | Liberty Station NTC Park, 2455 Cushing Road, Point Loma
January 19 | BagbyFest 3: This annual festival is one of the county’s best. Celebrating all things decadent—beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, food—Bagby Beer Co. converts its two-story brewpub into an expansive festival featuring not only the beers of this award-winning operation, but an impressive list of ales and lagers from breweries that inspire owners Jeff and Dande Bagby. | Bagby Beer Company, 601 South Coast Highway, Oceanside, 5 p.m.
