In response to the disastrous Camp Fire in Paradise, California and surrounding areas, Chico’s Sierra Nevada has organized a fundraiser for the official relief fund. On Giving Tuesday, November 27, they’ll brew Resilience Butte County Proud IPA and donate 100 percent of the beer sales (not just profit). Founder Ken Grossman has invited the nation’s brewers to do the same.
To help those efforts, multiple malt, hop, and yeast suppliers are donating ingredients.
Carmel Mountain’s Second Chance Beer is one of the locals onboard. Brewmaster Marty Mendiola graduated from CSU Chico and got into brewing because of Sierra Nevada. “I’ve spent many times in Paradise, and am proud to be able to brew this beer to help out,” he says. That beer will be available in both Second Chance tap rooms on December 22.
