Beer Week Punk Rock Food Drive

Oceanside’s Midnight Jack hosts benefit event November 10

November 6, 2018 By Ryan Lamb

This Saturday, Oceanside’s Midnight Jack Brewing (3801 Oceanic Drive) hosts the 10th Annual Punk Rock Food Drive starting at 1 p.m.

“We’ve raised 152,000 meals for San Diego County food banks since 2009,” says co-founder Jason York. “We have been averaging around 20,000 meals per show over the last couple of years. Our last campaign, Summer 2018, raised $4,488 and 2,086 pounds of food for a total of over 24,000 meals. Our goal this time around is 25,000 meals.”

Admission to this all-ages event is three non-perishable food items or a (suggested) $5 donation.

“I helped start the Punk Rock Food Drive because I truly believe that everyone can can contribute to help the neighbors and surrounding community,” says co-founder Chris Mazzola. “And it can be done in a punk rock DIY fashion. You just put one foot in front of the other and start. Learn as you go and hopefully get better at it while you do. If everyone you knew did one thing to help someone they didn’t know, the world we live in would be a different place.”

Bands scheduled to perform include The Last Gang (Fat Wreck Chords), Western Settings (La Escalera Records), WAR FEVER, Corporate Citizen, Parade of Horribles, KnightressM1, Blind Mountain Holler, and Stacey Dee and Beebs (Acoustic feat. Stacey Dee of Bad Cop / Bad Cop).

Vendors include The Sidewalk Project (“LA-based non-profit organization using art and music to promote connection and wellness for houseless communities”); SLABRATORY CLOTHING (“So-Cal’s resident gurus of media, clothing, and insane punk rock shows”); BatCountryArt (“artwork, prints, coffin case stash boxes, and drumhead artwork”); Nerdpins (“low-brow trinkets for nerds”); and Body Art Bus (“San Diego County’s only fully licensed mobile tattoo facility”).

Food trucks will include Epic Eatz and El Cevichito Food Truck.
