Beer Week Preview: Fishing with the Brewers

October 13, 2018 By Ryan Lamb

Fishing with the Brewers attendees in 2017

One of San Diego Beer Week’s most unique events takes place on Monday, November 5. The aptly-titled “Fishing with the Brewers” event is now in its sixth year, and attendees in the past have caught mackerel, bass, rays, sharks, lizard fish, and more off the Shelter Island Pier.

“It’s hard to imagine a better way to spend an afternoon than drinking beers at Fathom (Bistro Bait & Tackle) and fishing with a bunch of great brewers on the pier,” said Kelsey McNair of North Park Beer Co. “Fishing with the Brewers is definitely one of my favorite SDBW events to attend every year.”

The $80 entry fee includes a keeper fishing pole and reel — “this event is perfect for non-fishing folk!” (Fathom Bistro owner Dennis Borlek) —  tournament t-shirt, taco breakfast bar, all you can responsibly drink beers, sausage sandwich lunch, and of course the opportunity to mingle with more than a dozen brewers. Tickets can be found here.
