Freshly-picked hop cones making their way into local ales is a staple of late summer in San Diego. After our coverage from about a week ago, here are some updates:
Bitter Brothers’ CashmereOutside is planned for release on Tuesday, September 4.
Burning Beard’s Circle of Wet Hops was tapped on Thursday, August 30; Room 101 is being brewed today.
Culture’s Hops. Wet Hops. (00)7.0% ABV with Cascade and Chinook will come online Thursday, September 6.
Duck Foot’s wet hop version of Contender IPA was still available as of a few days ago…
Fourpenny House’s Beatrix Blonde debuts this weekend. Fresh-hopped Fourpenny Ale arrives later in September.
Nickel Beer Co will put out at least one wet hop beer per week through September, tallying more than a dozen in total.
North Park Beer Co’s Chinopalito is planned for release on September 10, after the brewery welcomes new tanks.
Pure Project’s Desert Convoy IPA is no longer available due to high demand.
Rock Bottom’s Hop Tub Time Machine IPA is scheduled for release on Wednesday, September 12.
Second Chance’s IPA, single-hopped with Cascade from Julian’s Hopportunity Farms, will be ready Thursday, September 6.
South Park’s Hoppy Red is on tap now; Star B XPA joins the ranks Wednesday, September 5.
Thorn Brewing’s collaboration with Urban Surf 4 Kids drops Saturday, September 8.
Thunderhawk celebrates two years in business tomorrow with seven wet hop beers on tap: five varieties of Liberty’s Teeth English Pale Ale, Solo Strong Pale Ale with Chinook and Cascade hops, and a Red Ale with Cascade hops.
Viewpoint’s third wet hop beer of the season, Superfecta Extra Pale Ale with hops from Star B Ranch, was made available on Monday, August 20, with four more yet to be brewed.
Many of these beers will be available Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16 at O’Brien’s Pub. Sunday, September 16 is also the date for Nopalito Farms’ “Sunday Asado” with beers by Nickel, North Park, and South Park.
Tapping dates are to be determined for beers by Burgeon Beer, Deft Brewing, Pizza Port, Quantum, and Second Chance; some of those breweries are working with farms in the Pacific Northwest (PNW), where the harvest is in September. O’Brien’s Pub will host a hop fest featuring PNW hops Friday, October 12 through Sunday, October 14.
