School’s out, the sun’s up, and the suds are flowing across San Diego this summer. Check out the following featured events, then surf, skate or lazily saunter over to our main events page to check out the wealth of beery goings-on taking place in July.
July 7 | Anniversary Celebrations: Time flies when you’re making beer. The county’s smallest brewery, Escondido Brewing, is celebrating a year in business, while Mira Mesa’s Viking-themed Longship Brewery is closing the book on year two with multiple specialty beers served up in Norse drinking horns. They grow up so fast. | Escondido Brewing, 649 Rock Springs Road, Escondido; Longship Brewery, 10320 Camino Santa Fe, Mira Mesa; Times Vary
July 13 & 14 | More Anniversaries: The milestone mirth carries over into a second consecutive weekend as Pacific Islander Beer Co. debuts new beers and offers visitors their first two pints for 50% off both Friday and Saturday, while the gluten-reduced pioneers at Duck Foot Brewing break out new beers, including fruited, oak-aged, and hazy offerings to cap year three. | Pacific Islander Beer Co., 8665 Argent Street, Santee; Duck Foot Brewing, 8920 Kenamar Drive, Suite 210, Miramar; Times Vary
July 14 | Second Saturday: Jeff Bagby is the most award-winning brewer in the history of the country’s most prestigious annual brewing competition, the Great American Beer Festival. Getting to his Oceanside brewpub, Bagby Beer Co., is a long haul for residents of San Diego proper, so he’s coming to them with this event featuring a wide array of his to-style masterpieces, and the man himself. | Hamilton’s Tavern, 1521 30th Street, South Park, 5 p.m.
July 19 | Hop-Con 6.0: Stone Brewing‘s beer-nerd companion event to Hop-Con has brought it every year, and round six will be no different. Attendees can sample multiple versions of the imperial stout that birthed this annual tradition while enjoying other rare and exotic beers plus specialty food items, games, and more. | Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station, 2816 Historic Decatur Drive, Point Loma, X x.m.
July | Beer to the Rescue Events: This year-long campaign I organize that supports the Lupus Foundation of Southern California soldiers through summer with an Independence Day weekend kickoff at Booze Brothers Brewing, followed by a beer-and-cookie pairing at Rock Bottom, a beer-pairing with Andrea’s Truffles at Eppig Brewing’s Point Loma spot, and Friday-night fun at Kilowatt Brewing’s OB tasting room. | Booze Brothers Brewing, 2545 Progress Street, Suite D, Vista; Rock Bottom Brewery & Restaurant, 8980 La Jolla Village Drive, La Jolla; Eppig Brewing Waterfront Biergarten, 2817 Dickens Street, Point Loma; Kilowatt Brewing, 1875 Cable Street, Ocean Beach; Times Vary
