There’s no cause for gloom this June, thanks to the plethora of beery events taking place throughout San Diego County. The anniversary festivals alone provide enough celebratory pizzazz to keep one riding a high right into summer. Check out the featured events below, then head over to our events page to find even more fun near you.
June 2 | 4th Anniversary Party: A week before they grand-open their new Santee brewery and tasting room (June 8-10), the Council Brewing crew will celebrate four years at their Kearny Mesa digs much as they have the previous three years, by tapping a metric funk ton of oak-aged beers, plus other rarities and favorites. There’ll also be live music, a triple IPA release and a bottled anniversary-beer release. | Council Brewing, 7705 Convoy Court, Kearny Mesa, 11 a.m.
June 9 | HESSFEST 8: Eight years is a long time, and an extensive enough stretch to make a lot of friends. At least it is in the case of Mike Hess Brewing, who’ll have many of their brewing-industry friends over for the latest edition of their anniversary festivities, which they claim will be “bigger, badder and better than ever” behind 25 breweries, a dectet of food vendors, three bands and a comedy show. | Mike Hess Brewing, 3812 Grim Avenue, North Park, 11:30 a.m.
June 10 | Stone Sour Fest: Before most beer fans knew the difference between a gose and a gueuze, Stone Brewing was making a big deal out of sour beers with this annual festival devoted to tart, tingly tipples. This year’s outdoor soiree will include more than 75 sour beers on draft and in bottles, including plenty of rarities, plus private tastings with senior members of Team Stone’s brewing team. | Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, 1999 Citracado Parkway, Escondido, 10 a.m.
June 16 | 2nd Anniversary Party: Bolstered by the success of last year’s anniversary festivities, North Park Beer Co. is sticking with its IPA festival game plan, offering house IPAs plus hop-bombs from other San Diego and further-flung Californian breweries. But this year it’ll be a competition where expert judges and attendees cast votes for the best of the bunch while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and cool swag. | North Park Beer Co., 3038 University Avenue, North Park, 11 a.m.
June | Beer to the Rescue Events: It’s another busy month for lupus fundraising campaign Beer to the Rescue, starting with dual events at Second Chance Beer Co.’s pair of tasting rooms on June 3, followed by a keep-the-commemorative-glass night at Latchkey Brewing on June 6, a charity D&D tournament at Battlemage Brewing on June 7, B2TR night at Resident Brewing on June 20, a rye IPA release at Ballast Point Brewing’s Little Italy brewpub on June 21, and a Key Lime Milkshake IPA release at Savagewood Brewing on June 26. | Second Chance Beer Co., 15378 Avenue of Science, #222, Carmel Mountain Ranch; Second Chance Beer Lounge, 4045 30th Street, North Park; Latchkey Brewing, 1795 Hancock Street, Mission Hills; Battlemage Brewing, 2870 Scott Street, #102, Vista; Resident Brewing (at The Local Eatery & Drinking Hole), 1065 Fourth Avenue, Downtown; Ballast Point Brewing, 2215 India Street, Little Italy; Savagewood Brewing, 9879 Hibert Street, Suite F, Scripps Ranch; Times Vary
