Brew & Food Festival is an immersive craft beer and culinary experience managed and produced by the event innovators at Motley Brews on behalf of San Diego Coastkeeper. Standing apart from your run-of-the-mill beer tasting, Brew & Food Festival provides a truly unique experience by tapping into San Diegans’ love of craft beer, cuisine and music festival-styled entertainment.
The inaugural Brew & Food Festival takes place Saturday, August 29, 2015, in the new Waterfront Park. More than 70 independent breweries supply specialties, seasonals and some of your favorite craft beers while over 20 of the region’s finest culinary tastemakers prepare craft beer-styled and infused dishes.
Participating breweries include Stone Brewing Co., Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits, Pizza Port Brewing Co., The Lost Abbey, AleSmith Brewing Co., Avery Brewing, Breckenridge Brewery, Bell’s and many more. Culinary partners include Bracero Cocina de Raiz, Bottega Americano, Mexikosher, Parq Restaurant & Nightclub, The Patio Group, Embargo Grill, The Regal Seagull and other amazing restaurants.
Local industry expert “Dr.” Bill Sysak of Stone Brewing Company, who has collaborated with Motley Brews on Nevada’s largest craft beer festival, the Great Vegas Festival of Beer, will also assist in curating some of the specialty elements of the festival such as beer and food pairings in the Mad Craft VIP area.
Located in the heart of the event, Mad Craft treats VIP ticket holders to the best selection of special-reserve pours and limited one-off beers crafted specifically for the Brew & Food Festival, along with complimentary tastes from dishes created by some of the region’s most elite chefs including Chef Javier Plascencia of Grupo Plascencia and Chef David Warner of Bottega Americano.
Additionally, the Brew & Food Festival delivers a variety of music-focused offerings, which include Down North (Seattle), The Routine (San Diego), and Jonny Tarr (San Diego) on the main stage. And to further tantalize the senses, the festival also features the Silent Disco Dome. Featuring DJ sets and special live electronic instrumentation, the Silent Disco will give festival-goers a chance to take a break from noshing and swigging to get their groove on under the dome.
Brew & Food Festival is a multisensory experience that unites the craft beer, culinary, and music festival communities, challenging your perceptions of a traditional beer tasting event. Festival proceeds benefit San Diego Coastkeeper in their mission to protect and restore fishable, swimmable and drinkable waters in San Diego County.
