A brewery anniversary is a big deal, a chance for brewing companies to pull out all the stops, tap some special kegs, bottle up some limited-edition wares and go all out to celebrate making it through another year alongside the very people responsible for that feat. These fetes’ advanced levels of excess tend to draw beer fans from far and wide.
Though young and exhibiting only two years’ of celebratory history, the folks at Societe Brewing Company (8262 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, Kearny Mesa) have earned a reputation for next-level recognition of a year-gone-by. In fact, their biggest problem has been finding ways to allow massive droves of willing beer enthusiasts a chance to participate. They can only fit so many into their tasting room, so they’ve employed multiple-day approaches incorporating creative features.
The following is what the brewing company has in store for its faithful fans during an unprecedented 22-day anniversary period taking place from June 12 to July 3 called Societe Three. All of the events will take place at the brewery’s tasting room.
- Like last year, Societe will sell commemorative glasses for $10, beginning on June 12 (while supplies last). The glass can be refilled with any beer available at Societe’s tasting room until July 3 at a cost of $3. BONUS: If you have a clean glass from Societe’s second anniversary each refill is $2, and if you have a glass from their first anniversary each refill is just $1.
- During the celebration period, Societe will re-release a saison brewed with California sagebrush called The Gleaner, and introduce a new hoppy beer and a newly blended Feral (sour) beer going by the name The Thief. There will be three opportunities to sample the latter.
- On June 13, Societe will hold a costume party featuring a photo booth churning out take-home photos for attendees.
- On June 18, former Monk’s Kettle chef Adam Dulye will cook a three-course meal featuring a beer reception and The Thief. Dubbed Dulye’s Mess Hall, the seated dinner will feature a summer vegetable panzanella salad, trio of wood-grilled and roasted pork, and a trio of desserts. Tickets will be sold at Societe’s tasting room and online.
- Each month, Societe spotlights a featured charity, allowing them to be on-site in their tasting room each Tuesday and contributing a portion of proceeds from those nights’ sales to the organization. June’s will be Beer to the Rescue, a campaign set up to raise awareness about the autoimmune disease, lupus, and earn funds for the Lupus Foundation of Southern California.
