West Coaster was lucky enough to tag along with two members of Stone Brewing Co.’s sales team. The hotel’s management had reached out to Stone regarding expanding their beer program into something more substantial and the brewery sent Ian Wendlandt, Stone’s Chief of Staff and Padraiac Lenehan, San Diego Regional Brewery Rep. About a month ago, we met at the Hilton in La Jolla/Torrey Pines with Naomi Higgins, the hotel’s Director of Food and Beverage and Emmanuel Hunter, Outlet Manager.
One of the most fascinating and under-reported elements of the brewing industry is the distribution and sales facet. It was really exciting watching some of the best in the business do their thing.
What was the result of the meeting? This Hilton, located on the porch of the majestic Torrey Pines Golf Course, is now going to be serving good, local beer. Located below the lobby, the Torreyana Grille boasts four craft taps with a view of the majestic Torrey Pines Golf Course. While the tap selection isn’t the largest, the ambiance makes up for it. Ask for a non-glass cup for your beer and head to the pool – or sit along a firepit and take in the view behind your brew.
Coming this Monday is the first of their new summer beer program. From 4-7PM, Stone Brewing Co. will be hosting a tap takeover. Parking is free. Next up is a Father’s Day / UCSD Graduation celebration on June 14th – beers TBD. If you’re into tasty beers by pools and firepits, make sure to follow this Hilton on Facebook and Twitter.
