Chris Cramer of Karl Strauss was Chair of the Day at the San Diego Rotary Club yesterday.
Speaking before the 25th anniversary party on Saturday, Cramer brought guests and industry leaders Scott Stamp (from San Diego Brewing Co.), Gina Marsaglia (from Pizza Port) and Jack White (from Ballast Point), who were all part of the KARL staff the day their first brewery restaurant opened in 1989. Stamp was the first bartender, Marsaglia the first cocktail waitress, and White the first tour guide.
Although the party at Karl Strauss’ newly renovated headquarters in Pacific Beach is sold out, there’s another way to get your hands on plenty of the company’s beers on Saturday.
Hamilton’s Tavern in South Park is throwing another trademark “Second Saturday” celebration, complete with complimentary grub. The tap list is impressive: Pintail Pale, Tower 10 IPA, Barrel-Aged Wreck Alley Imperial Stout, 25th Anniversary Barrel-Aged Doppelbock, Baltic Porter, Mosaic Wheat Hoppy Ale, Tower 20 IIPA, Big Barrel IIPA, Trolley in the Rye (rye Red Trolley), Rasta Red, Dry Irish Stout, Orange Blonde Wheat Ale, Boardwalk Black Rye IPA, Blackball Belgian IPA, Dubbel, 4 Scowling Owls Tripel, 2 Tortugas Belgian Quad, Mouette a Trois Belgian Strong Dark, Barleywine, and Ladybird Lambic with raspberries.
On the menu is cajun food, including creole crawfish mac & cheese, alligator andouille sausage jambalaya with shrimp, chicken and rice, cold cajun broccoli slaw, and southern peach crumble a la mode with Karl Strauss Mouette a Trois ice cream.
