Over the course of the last two days, upcoming Grantville-area brewery Benchmark Brewing received all their brewing and fermenting equipment, including a 10 BBL, steam-fired brewhouse from Victoria, BC’s Specific Mechanical Systems; an “over-engineered” hopback; four 20 BBL fermentors; and two 20 BBL brite tanks. Brewer Matt Akin is hoping to churn out more than 1,000 barrels per year of sessionable ales. Blonde ale, IPA, brown ale and oatmeal stout will be the core offerings, with plans to have cask beer available at all times. Down the line, the brewery plans to package their beer in cans.
