13 in ’13 member La Bella Pizza Garden in Chula Vista is throwing a West Coast-style “Battle of the Beers” this Wednesday from 5 – 10 p.m. 20 different San Diego beers will go against similar beers from the rest of California; vote for your favorite and you’ll win a prize if your ballot comes closest to La Bella’s predictions. The cost is $20 for eight taster tickets and a souvenir pint glass, and $10 more gets you an additional four tickets. Buy at the door or online.
Match-ups include Wheats – Coronado Orange Avenue vs. Pyramid Apricot; Browns – Manzanita Gillespie Brown vs. Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar; Krieks – Alpine Chez Monioux vs. Cascade Kriek; and Belgian Strongs – The Lost Abbey Devotion vs. Russian River Damnation.
