Butcher’s Brewing, whose beers are available at many local Whole Foods and Sprouts locations, will no longer be a contract brewer with Bayhawk Ales in Irvine — the same company that helped craft beers for the now-defunct Airdale Brewing Company.

Butcher’s owner Rey Knight and his team recently completed the purchase of Manzanita Brewing Company’s original brewery, which includes the tasting room, fridges, warehousing and all brewing equipment.

“We have high hopes for the guys at Butcher’s,” said Manzanita president and co-owner Jeff Trevaskis. “We’ll work with them every step of the way as Santee’s brewing community grows.”

Manzanita’s new tasting room was unveiled in July just 1/4 mile down the road, and the company is looking to open a distillery next door.
