The final chapter of Stone Brewing Co.’s Vertical Epic Ale series, 12.12.12, arrives today. “The Vertical Epic Ale series started simply enough in 2001,” writes Brandon Hernández, “with Stone CEO and co-founder Greg Koch suggesting we release a different Belgian-inspired beer suitable for aging each year on the date when the day, month and year registered by the same digit.”
Hernández’s post also includes more information on the beer plus tasting notes from Brewmaster Mitch Steele, suggested food pairings from “Dr.” Bill Sysak, and a link to a recent livestream tasting session of all the ales with beer experts.
Across the country, bars and beer-focused restaurants will soon host events focused on the series. From the looks of that list, O’Brien’s Pub in Kearny Mesa will be one of two locations pouring the 02.02.02 vintage, with event proceeds benefiting the Movember Foundation’s fight against prostate cancer.
The other spot is the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido, where the Stone Epic Festival begins at 12:12 p.m. on 12.12.12, and includes three barrel-aged vintages on draft, one cask-conditioned vintage, special food pairings and more.
