Jerry’s Farewell Debuts Today

November 20, 2012 By WC Staff

Today Monkey Paw Pub & Brewery will release “Jerry’s Farewell” – a 7.1% ABV Imperial Chocolate Coffee Porter infused with cacao nibs from local chocolatiers Eclipse and dark roast coffee from North Park’s Caffé Calabria. A British malt base and fresh vanilla beans round out the beer.

Mayor Jerry Sanders took part in the brew day on October 31 and Monkey Paw owner Scot Blair was happy with his contribution: “He actively stirred the mash and was all smiles as we discussed the technique and process. He worked!”

Blair heaped more praise on Sanders, saying, “It’s no secret that the San Diego Craft Beer movement has made significant strides in the last several years and part of that success has been with the staunch support from Mayor Sanders. He has been actively involved in the scene and has helped reduce some of the red tape, he’s been on hand and available at our events and openings and has never been shy at communicating the importance of our Craft Beer community to anyone that would listen.”

Mayor Sanders will be presented with a homebrew kit from Home Brew Mart as well as a clone recipe that we will publish in the next print issue. The event officially runs from 4 – 6 p.m.
