Evil Dead Red, on cask — San Diego bars TapRoom (Pacific Beach) and O’Brien’s Pub (Kearny Mesa) will both tap casks of this specialty beer from locals AleSmith Brewing Company today. Weighing in at 6.66% ABV, Evil Dead Red is only available on draft — or cask — during the fall.
Qualities, according to AleSmith: The aroma starts with a pleasant hop aroma followed by a nice malty sweetness. Well-rounded and well-balanced. Smooth, medium-bodied. Lush and rich on the palate with a semi-dry finish.
The Dude Abides — Sessions Public is throwing a more laidback Halloween party by showing The Big Lebowski starting at 7 p.m. $4 “Caucasians” i.e. White Russians will pour alongside the 20 taps. The costume contest starts at 10 p.m.; come dressed as your best “Dude”, Bunny or Walter, if you dare.
OktoberHess — Classic rock cover band American Midnight will be playing tunes while you sip on the cask-conditioned version of Hess Brewing Punkin Stoot and munch fare from Kumpir and It’s a Dog’s World food trucks. Prizes will be awarded to the top three costume wearers.
