–$5 from the sale of each case of the newly bottled Green Flash 30th Street Pale Ale, Park West Porter and East Village Pilsner (only available at the tasting room) go to a hyper-local charity in a new program the Mira Mesa brewery calls “Brewing It Forward.” David “The Water Man” Ross is the first to benefit in what will be a rotating lineup of SD causes. On Tuesday, Green Flash also announced via Craft Business Daily that they plan to spend $12 million on a 100,000 BBL East Coast brewery that will be in operation by 2015.
— The inaugural Taste of Vista event took over downtown Vista last night, with all six area breweries represented: Mother Earth Brew Co. (showing off their new home brew supply shop and tap house next door), Prohibition Brewing Co., Iron Fist Brewing Co., Aztec Brewing Co., Back Street Brewery and Latitude 33 Brewing Company. These breweries are part of our Spotlight on Vista and Oceanside beer businesses, which you can read on pages 12 and 13 of the July issue of West Coaster (PDF/E-Reader). Paper copies are available for free at your favorite brewery, brewpub, beer-centric restaurant or bottle shop. If they’re not, let us know.
