Fifteenth & Final Real Ale Festival

April 12, 2012 By WC Staff

A view of the engines at last year's fest

Enjoy cask-conditioned beer? Then you are in luck. Tomorrow and Saturday Pizza Port Carlsbad is hosting the fifteenth and final installment of the Real Ale Festival, started back in ’98 when beer served through a beer engine was not nearly as available around town as it is today. Friday’s VIP session (1 to 4 p.m.) costs $40 for eight 4 oz. tastes and a commemorative logo glass, and gives you first dibs on the regular beer list covering a wide range of styles, plus several VIP choices. Tickets can be purchased here; hurry, there were only 13 left at time of posting. The two general admission sessions go from 4 – 11 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Saturday ($30 at the door); additional tastes for all sessions are $1. If you can’t make it out this weekend, don’t fret — organizer Tom Nickel recently said in an e-mail newsletter that “while this will be our last Real Ale Fest at Pizza Port, I do expect that the festival will be re-born in some sense in the future.” Cheers to Real Ale!
