While there are numerous places around town tapping the polemical Pliny the Younger from Russian River, there is one event that stands apart. According to an e-mail from co-owner Jeff Motch, Blind Lady Ale House will host a cancer benefit Pliny tasting featuring both beers: the Younger and Elder. The event is on February 20th from 6-8 p.m and 100% of the proceeds will be used locally to benefit two friends of the Normal Heights brewpub that are currently fighting cancer.
For $16 dollars, one flight of both Pliny the Younger (dedicated to 10 month old Lyla C., “the Younger”) and Pliny the Elder (dedicated to 42 year old Chris S., “the Elder”) will be served. Each pour will be .25L, aka ~8.5 ounces.
Help two of your fellow San Diegans fight a terrible disease while getting a taste of some outstanding brews. You must purchase a ticket for this event. Tickets go on sale at 6PM TODAY and can be found here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/227930
Update 2/13 – The event sold out fast. With 130 tickets at $16 each, that’s $2080 that beer drinkers raised in one fell swoop to help fellow San Diegans in need. Cool move by Team BLAH as they could have quickly sold the rare & popular PTY for profit, but instead came up with this.
If you haven’t gotten a taste of this years Pliny, we refer you to Jeff at San Diego Beer Blog who is doing a great job keeping track of where and when the beer’s going on tap.
Updated post around 11PM on Monday night. Added info and edited for clarity.
