Saturday’s (2/11) top two events are a beer lover’s dream — if you don’t mind the crowds. So choose one, or both.
Brewbies Festival
Up at the Pizza Port Carlsbad beer gardens, the 3rd annual Brewbies Festival takes place from noon – 5 p.m. Several pink beers will make their debut (including Carlsbad’s Boob-Shaka-Laka) at the event that raised more than $30,000 for Keep A Breast over its first two years.
As of last night, pre-sale tickets had sold out, but you can still get your specialty Brewbies glass, four 6 oz tasters, “I Heart Boobies” bracelet and a raffle ticket at the door for $30. Recently confirmed is the appearance of Russian River’s Pliny the Younger, this week’s most sought-after beer in San Diego. Check out our photos from last year’s event here. Get there and back safely.
Second Saturday
Just like last year, Second Saturday w/ Karl Strauss at Hamilton’s Tavern is on the same day as the Brewbies Festival. This year, 17 Karl Strauss taps, two “dueling” casks and free cajun food at 5 p.m. will ensure yet another packed house.
February is a fitting month for the South Park bar to host Karl Strauss, as the San Diego brewery just turned 23 on February 2nd. The newly-released 23 Anniversary Old Ale is set to pour alongside the popular Off The Rails Imperial Red Ale, Tower 20 IIPA and more. Check out our photos from last year’s event here.
