Oakland v. Chargers TONIGHT – Beer Bar Roundup

November 10, 2011 By WC Staff

No doubt you’ve noticed our fair city being invaded by a certain group of people. Outsmart them by hitting up these spots.

NORTH COUNTY

OCEANSIDE PCH Sports Bar & Grill – Just what the name implies: TVs, good beer and good food on the coast. 1835 S. Coast Highway

ESCONDIDO Mike’s BBQ – The sports bar section isn’t too big and fills up fast. Get there early and you’ll be rewarded with a huge projector and multiple TVs streaming the same game and others. Tasty BBQ complements a decent craft selection. 1356 W. Valley Parkway

ENCINITAS Stadium Sports Bar – This place doesn’t screw around. Get there early and get a booth with your own TV. They’ve been working hard on their craft selection, and it shows. 149 S. El Camino Real

SAN MARCOS Churchill’s Pub And Grille – It’s New Belgium barrel night! Head brewer Jamie Mastin is in from Colorado and this is a rare opportunity to try several of the NB beers that will be tapped. Special food pairing entree too. 887 W San Marcos Blvd.

COAST CENTRAL

LA JOLLA La Jolla Brew House – Only place where you can bring your puppy along. Not tons of screens, but a neat outdoor patio. They haven’t been brewing beer in a while, but tonight is Avery Brewing pint night & food pairing. Check out their Facebook for the full beer list. 7536 Fay Ave.

PB TapRoom – Fantastic beer selection and outstanding food. This place is San Diegan to the core, so get there early ‘cos you won’t be alone. 1269 Garnet Ave.

OB Nick’s At The Pier – Tons of screens and the most comfortable seating in town. Modest craft selection, but remember Yellowtail is still an awesome beer. 5083 Santa Monica Ave.

CENTRAL

DOWNTOWN The Beer Company – There’s an almost-obnoxious amount of televisions in Beer Co. but that is good news for the sports fan! Pretty much anywhere you sit is going to be blasting the game in your face. Beer Co.’s beer has improved much since their opening, also. Good food. 602 Broadway

DOWNTOWN Bubs @ The Ball Park – Tonight it’s a Ballast Point total tap takeover presented by Tap Hunter! Oh man this lineup looks good. Ballast Point owner just finished up a 2 pm tour of the Scripps Ranch facility and is headed down to this event. Congratulate him on BP’s newest awards: today at the Euro Beer Star Awards Sculpin took gold in the IPA category (2nd year in a row) and silver in Consumers’ Favourite! 715 J Street

EAST VILLAGE Monkey Paw – The newest of the Blair bars has a few TVs, great cheesesteaks and tonight – 26 taps of rare Sierra Nevada beer including Beer Camp specialties and a cask of Torpedo IPA. 805 16th Street

FRIARS ROAD EAST San Diego Brewing Company – Often one of the draft selections in town. Head brewer Dean has been working on his recipies, also. Try out his DIPA Hopnotic and let us know what you think. Tasty food and an easy-going vibe. 10450 Friars Road

FRAIRS ROAD WEST Randy Jones BBQ – Impressive projector setup right above the bar and a big menu of good food. 7510 Hazard Center Dr. #215

NORTH PARK True North – Obscene amount of television screens and a huge bar w/ outside seating also. The food is quite good as it comes from the same kitchen as Urban Solace next door, and there’s a decent craft selection. Get there early! 3815 30th Street

SOUTH PARK South Park Abbey – “Best wings, hands down” according to Amy T. Granite in CityBeat’s 2011 Best of San Diego issue. $7 chicken wings and a local pint for $1.50 ’til 7pm, and quite a few TV’s wrapped around the room. 1946 Fern Street

SOUTH COUNTY

JAMUL Press Box Sports Lounge – Plenty of screens along with East County’s best beer selection. Comfortable leather chair/couch seating and patio. The chef used to work at La Valencia, so the food is the best of the lot. 2990 Jamacha Road

CHULA VISTA La Bella Pizza Cafe & Games – Pizza, beer, games, and the game! 373 3rd Ave.
