We’re going to switch up this post. From now on, rather than listing every single event in the next 7 days, we’re simply going to list our picks. As always, if you’d like a complete list of upcoming San Diego Beer events, please look to our calendar.
8/24 Wednesday, 6PM – Making of SUDS @ Mission Brewery (SD Central)
This event will feature Sheldon Kaplan, Producer and Director of “SUDS County USA.” Sheldon, along with Dan Selis of Mission Brewery, will speak on the evolution of the brewing community over the past 20 years. Of course, there will be beer. $20 ticket gains you admission to the talks and either two pints or 14 samples of Mission’s beer. We’re interested in learning about the quiet director and his film, so we’ll be in attendance. For more information, click here.
8/25 Thursday, 630PM – Firestone Walker Beer Dinner @ Lumberyard Tavern (SD North)
According to the folks at Lumberyard, this $45 dinner will consist of five courses and “will feature local mussels, New Zealand lamb & smoked tri-tip among other mouthwatering creations from our executive chef. Beer pairings will include Firestone DBA, Solace, Union Jack IPA, Walkers Reserve Porter & Parabola.” Reservations are required, and can be made by calling 760-479-1657. Please tell them that we sent you!

Venerable Del Cerro craft beer destination will host Karl Strauss for the latest installment of their regular, delicious BeerBQ. 8/27 Saturday, 530PM – Rooftop Beer Dinner @ Pizza Port OB (SD Central)
Pizza Port OB’s rooftop is the site of some very, very cool events. Craft beer chef Nate Soroko and his crew will offer a six-course meal that has been “thoughtfully paired” with beers from Pizza Port(s), Alpine, and Ballast Point. Come relax on one of the highest structures in OB while inhaling Nate’s work. Tickets and more info are available here.

8/27 Saturday, 6PM-9PM – 9th Annual Chula Vista Rotary Wine & Food Festival @ Otay Ranch Town Center (SD South)
The 9th incarnation of this Rotary-sponsored event will encompass food, wine, and local beer. Brewers that will attend are Ballast Point, Karl Strauss, Oggi’s, Stone Brewing Co., Tailgate Beer, and The Brew House at Eastlake. Food from La Bella Pizza, Oggi’s Pizza, and the Brew House at East Lake (among many others). This is billed as an upscale event and tickets are $50. For more info, click here.
8/31 Wednesday, 630PM – Pizza Port Beer Pairing Dinner @ The Grill at Torrey Pines (SD North)
Chef Kyle Bergman and the Grill will host another installation of the monthly beer pairings hosted at the Lodge. We’ve attended more of these dinners than we can count, and it’s consistently the best beer pairing dinner in the land. The $55 cost of entrance (w/out tip) is justified, and in the summer months the Grill opens up their patio with bench style seating. Read about how I fell in love with this event, and click here for reservations and more info.
