Coronado Brewing Co. announced some big expansion news last week, and for that they are our Brewery Spotlight #3. By the end of 2012, CBC’s new 30-barrel brew house, tasting room and retail store will be open to the public at 1205 Knoxville Street right off the 5 and Morena Boulevard directly east of Fiesta Island. Brewing in the new facility is expected to begin in the spring of 2012.
The news came as no surprise to us. Coronado currently distributes their beer to 13 states and 3 foreign countries, and the 10-barrel brew house at the heart of the peninsular brewpub’s operations is being pushed the max by the crew. “We’ve exceeded our capacity at our Coronado facility,” said Rick Chapman, co-owner and president of Coronado Brewing Company, “and we’re really excited about this new expansion.”
Over the last few years Coronado has also been stepping up the quality of their beers, and some of their best will be on show in upcoming events: tomorrow at The Tipsy Crow, a cask of Stoopid Stout (with vanilla beans, cocoa beans & mint) gets tapped at 7pm. Then next week, Sessions Public will have a cask of Idiot IPA tapped on Thursday. If that’s not enough, Friday sees as a cask of Stoopid Stout with oak chips at LoveLikeBeer‘s To-firkin Friday event at Hamilton’s Tavern. LoveLikeBeer is an organization that creates vegan food and craft beer events with a charitable purpose – they’ve already put on 2 awesome events so far this year, and this one won’t disappoint either. Then, the Barley Aged Barley Wine we wrote about it in the August issue will be released outside of the pub on September 16th for Hamilton’s Firkin Friday, along with a cask of 4 Bros Pale.
