It’s a relatively quiet week in San Diego Beer, but there’s still plenty to do in the next 7 days if you are thirsty.

1130A – In anticipation for their 1st Anniversary, Urge will release their beer Very Bad Things (brewed by Mother Earth) today. For more details, see below (Saturday).
Sunday, July 31Saturday, July 30
12P – KnB Wine Cellars will host Firestone Walker with their frequent BeerBQ event. 14 Firestone beers will be on tap, including Abacus, Parabola, Double Jack, Walker’s Reserve, and more. Tasty beer and BBQ: you can’t go wrong on a Saturday.
12P – Urge Gastropub will be celebrating their 1st Anniversary (dubbed U+1). Outrageous beers will be on tap, such as a varient of Speedway Stout dubbed “Brewers Blend” (30% aged in oak barrels) and also Very Bad Things, a 9.1% brew by Mother Earth Brewing Co. made especially for the event that has Canadian Maple syrup and California Golden Raisins on the list of ingredients. There will be amazing food available, also.
5P – 30th on 30th will take place on Saturday. If you are wondering what all the talk regarding North Park’s 30th Street is about, this is a perfect way to check it out. Restaurants and bars on 30th Street such as El Take It EZ, The Ritual, Toronado, and Sea Rocket Bistro all team up on the 30th of every month to put out food and beer specials. Show up hungry, stop at 3-4 places and at each get a little tapa-sized dish for ~$5 and a beer for ~$2. You can find $2 half pours of 30th Street Pale Ale by Green Flash at Linkery and El Take It EZ. Our food favorite? Niman beef sliders at West Coast Tavern. Everytime the 30th falls on a weekend, it’s extra special and crowded. Be sure to start early because once the food is gone, it’s gone.
Monday, August 1
4P – Encinitas Ale House and Public House host the 80 beers in 80 days club, which is just what it sounds like. For those that have completed this journey, there will be a raffle for a trip to Oktoberfest in Munich. Also, a Hofbrau glass giveaway will take place at the same time. This raffle and glass giveaway will take place at Encinitas Ale House. More info, here.
7P – Craft beer friendly hotel The Pearl in Point Loma will be hosting a “Meet The Brewer” Dinner with Coronado Brewing Company. If you haven’t checked out The Pearl, it’s essentially a 1960’s style apartment complex revamped into a boutique hotel. It’s cool, and the hotel bar has a respectable local draft selection. This is the first we’ve heard of the Pearl doing a monthly craft beer series, and they seem eager to show off their new Executive Chef. $40 gets you a three course meal paired with Coronado beers. We’re planning on checking this one out. More info, here.
