Here’s what’s coming up beer-wise in the next few days.
Wednesday 5/4
5P – Alpine’s Caption Stout on nitro and Token Imperial Porter @ O’Brien’s. The Mira Mesa pub will be continuing their Alpine week through the 7th, and there should still be some other Alpine beers available from the Sunday tasting.
7P – Local Art and Beer (L.A.B.) @ TapRoom. Once a month on the first Wednesday, TapRoom opens it’s doors to local artists and allows them to display their stuff. While PB isn’t considered a art hub of San Diego, TapRoom doesn’t care. Rightfully so, because while at one L.A.B. event we learned about URT, a neat little clothing creator here in town. This Wednesday SD artists Corey Gautereaux and Kyle Curtis will be on display with local featured brewery Coronado Brewing Co.
7P – Cask Night @ Phileas Foggs feat. Karl Strauss Double Dry Hopped Pintail Pale Ale. Phileas Foggs has been recommended by a few of our readers as a must-see craft beer destination in Poway. We’re going to try and make this event. Also, is it just us or is Karl Strauss kicking it up a notch with creative beer production?

Friday 5/6
430P – Before the Padres vs Diamondbacks game, there will be a Beer Festival at PetCo Park. Details are scare on this one, and an email last week to our Padres media contact returned with a reply indicating it was still being thrown together. We were told to expect many of the same from last year, such as Ballast Point, Stone Brewing Co., and Coronado. TapHunter is running a 30% off deal for tickets to this game if you enter the promo code TAPHUNTER when buying tickets.
5P – Firkin Friday w/ Ballast Point @ Hamilton’s will feature a cask of Rum/Oaked Sextant Stout.
5P – Odin’s Raven Imperial Stout gets tapped @ O’Brien’s.
Saturday 5/7
630P – Rock Bottom La Jolla will be hosting a beer pairing dinner. This collaboration effort between Brewmaster Marty Mendiola and Senior Chef Alberto Lucatero will feature Marty’s beers paired with 4 courses containing ceviche, pozole, and “Jalisco-style pork”. There’s tons more info on their website. $38 and reservations are required by calling 858-450-9277
Sunday 5/8
10A – Can Cancer w/ TailGate @ PetCo. Local beer company TailGate will be hosting it’s family-friendly benefit tailgate party before the Diamondbacks game. There will be food, games, raffles and TailGate beer for adults. Benefits to support Breast Cancer research. You can buy tickets and find more information by clicking here.
Monday 5/9
6P – Blind Lady Ale House and MIHO Gastrotruck are teaming up every Monday for the month of May. This Monday, BLAH will screen Career Courier whilst slinging brews while MIHO serves food outside (BLAH’s kitchen will be closed.)

Tuesday 5/10
7P – Vegan Beer Dinner @ Stone Bistro & World Gardens. Part of the ongoing Master Pairings series featuring the ‘Bistro’s Executive Chef Alex Carballo and Bistro Beer Czar “Dr.” Bill Sysak. First course: an Asian trio of Quinoa, Sake Poached Buckwheat Udon Noodles and Avocado Roll paired with Dieu de Ciel’s Derniere Volonte and Iron Fist’s Spice of Life; Second course: Housemade Soy Ricotta Cheese & Zucchini Cannelloni paired with Stone Levitation Ale; Third course: Sweet Potato-Stuffed Chili Relleno paired with Malheur 12; Dessert: Cantaloupe Napoleon with Cucumber Granite paired with Bailleux Cuvee de Jonquilles.
7P – The Tipsy Crow on 5th Ave. Downtown will be tapping a cask of Mission Brewery’s Shipwrecked Double IPA. Here’s their description: “A amazingly balanced and hoppy beer, yet finishes as smooth as silk with no hint of high alcohol hotness usually associated with strong double IPA’s. Super citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors from the generous use of Cascade, Magnum, Centennial and CTZ hops.” With Padres season in full swing, we’re very excited about Mission Brewery opening up next to Petco Park. Shipwrecked is one of their most popular beers, and it’s no doubt the cask version at The Tipsy Crow will be extra delicious.
