Homegrown ‘za chain Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza is teaming up with San Diego-borne brewing companies for a series of “Meet the Brewer” dinners. Each event includes five courses, all of which are selected by the brewers to pair with a quintet of their beers. The kick-off event was held at Sammy’s in Scripps Ranch and featured Lightning Brewery owner and head brewer Jim Crute, who shared facts and stories about beers including his Ionizer Lager, Black Lightning Porter and Thunderweizen Ale, the latter of which matched exquisitely with a fresh beet and arugula salad with gorgonzola and pomegranate vinaigrette. The price per person is $30 and reservations must be made in advance. The following are the dates and links for each of the menus for the remaining three dinners.
