Lightning Turns On the Power
Lightning Brewery just turned on their new cold room. Related news, the delicious and very European Lightning Thunderweizen is now available in 22oz bombers. We love the new, colorful Lightning bomber design. Expect to see much more Lightning drafts and bottles across the county.
Highway 78 Hits the Road
The collaboration beer brewed at Stone Brewing Co. by Mitch Steele of Stone, Chuck Silva of Green Flash, and Jeff Bagby of Port Brewing is currently hitting the shelves. We spoke to Silva & Bagby. Both brewers expressed excitement on how the beer turned out, but both were also a little bummed because they had to wait until the February 14th release date to get bottles of their beer. We love the bottles. Look for the Scotch Ale to appear at your local bottle shop ASAP.
Green Flash to Brew Charity Beer
Green Flash will be brewing a charity beer in the upcoming months, the proceeds of which will be used to fund Chicks For Beer (see below).
(Editors note: This is a correction, we printed that Ingrid’s 1-in-8 would be the charity beer – this isn’t true. Green Flash will be brewing a separate beer for similar purposes. )
Chicks For Beer
The female-centric club founded at The High Dive by Ingrid Qua will be looking to become a Non-Profit Organization, however the details are very much up in the air. We will be sure to ask Ingrid more about this tonight, when Ballast Point will be hosted at this month’s Chicks For Beer dinner pairing. Organized by Ballast Point’s Colby Chandler, the pairing will take place tonight at 7PM @ The High Dive. Tickets can be purchased here.
TapRoom Anniversary
Easily the most San Diegan of San Diego beer bars, TapRoom’s 4th Anniversary Party & Beer Garden will be held on 2/26 from 2PM to 10PM. $20 will get you six 8oz tasters of San Diego’s finest, and there will be BBQ. Full disclosure: we love TapRoom. Also, Pliny the Younger will be going on tap Monday, Feb. 21st at 5PM.
New Toy
We just bought a fancy new Nikon DSLR. Look for the quality of our photos to jump as soon as we figure out how this damn thing works.
