This week is huge in beer. We’re also busy on deadline for Feb. so apologies for lagging and posting this last minute.
Blind Lady Ale House is throwing an outrageous multi-day celebration.
For their 2nd, BLAH is having a crazy amount of events this week starting tomorrow (Thursday). The events include a Canned craft beer keep-the-cozy night as well as Automatic Brewing Co.’s release of the yet-unnamed imperial coffee brown ale (we got to taste it over the weekend, it is tremendous). Jeff Hammett did a great little writeup over at SDBeerBlog, and the complete listing of events is on their website. Presale for 50 growlers of the first beer of 11 in ’11 member Automatic Brewing Co. can be found here (they might already be sold out).
MIHO Gastrotruck keeps on truckin’
Kevin & Juan of MIHO have effectively tuned in to our city’s beer circuit. Last week they did Phonography @ BLAH (we missed it, but Lee Chase said it ruled.). This week they’re going to be at AleSmith’s Wee Heavy release, as well as the poor man’s chili beer pairing at Home Brew Mart (we’re broke after The Lodge last week). We’re actively hunting down MIHO because we want to learn more about the dudes who run the tastiest roach coach in town. Story soon!
AleSmith is dropping Barrel Aged Wee Heavy Wednesday 1/26 (today)
Tickets will be distributed at 10am, so if you just got to work, maybe now’s the time to duck out before anyone notices. Beer sales start at 2pm, and the tasting room will be open from 10am-5pm. MIHO will be there, and their fixings will surely ensure the patience of the masses.
The Regal Beagle rules
Run by two gentlemen with a keen eye for beer and no-nonsense, there’s a wheel present that is beer’s version of Thunderdome (“Bust a deal, face the wheel!”) Instead of the gulag, the worst you get is pint filled from a can of Coors. The best? Free pint of whatever! Chances are, however, you’ll randomly land on any one of their ~20 craft beer taps and that will be your beer. Perfect for the guy who takes 30 minutes to stare at the chalkboard before ordering.
Small Bar and Hamilton’s Events
Allagash Brewing’s Rob Todd is going to be hosted at both Small Bar & Hamiltons tonight (Wednesday). On Friday, 11 in ’11 members Iron Fist will be @ Hamilton’s for Firkin Friday.
Straight From the Tap
Another 11 in ’11 member, TapHunter, has opened up their first Straight From the Tap of 2011 with Urge Gastropub. $15 bucks gets you $30 worth of stuff. It’s just what we needed to get our lazy buns out of North Park to Rancho Bernardo’s premiere craft beer destination.
O’Brien’s ConsumpTION
Tom Nickel just fired this over via the O’Brien’s newsletter (one of the best in town):
“Saturday and Sunday we celebrate our ConsumpTION weekend with 17 Russian River beers on tap with 11 different Belgian-inspired -TION beers. All of RRBC’s Belgian-style beers end in TION: Damnation, Salvation, etc.. On tap we will have those two along with Supplication, Temptation, Consecration, Perdition, Sanctification, Mortification, Compunction, Redemption, Rejection, Little White Lie and all of the hoppy beers from the night before – Blond, Dead Leaf Green, RR IPA, Blind Pig and Pliny. Look for Lobster Mac n’ Cheese and Beer Onion Soup from the kitchen.”
Home Brews & Gardens class!
These guys are having an All-Grain Brewing class this weekend. If you’re into that whole beer making thing (or you want to start) check it out.
