Around twenty people and four Stone representatives came together for Stone Brewing Co.’s 2nd Informational Meeting held at their new location, off 30th street in South Park.
Greg Koch delivered a concise speech that explained the motivation behind the expansion, delivered the details on what to expect, and capably fielded questions.
Here’s what we know:
>The Stone Company Store South Park is in the 30 day community feedback process of it’s ABC license. What does that mean? Send a snail-mail letter to the ABC voicing your opinion of the proposed expansion. If no major dissent arises, then the process will proceed. Send those letters to the following address:
ABC Southern District Office
1350 Front St. Room 5056
San Diego CA 92101.
>The proposed expansion would be a tasting room only, with growler fills on some of the 14 tap offerings (Core beers will always be on tap, the rest will rotate)
>Pending approval from the ABC, hours will be 11AM to 9PM, 7 days a week.
>There will be a “small, experimental pilot system” on site.
>This is designed to be a distribution point for Stone Brewing Co. in the San Diego Metropolitan area first, a tasting room second, and a brewery third.
>30th Street Craft Beer Scene cited as reason for location choice.
>Something in the spirit of Beer University will be held monthly
West Coaster speculates that the South Park opening is a scaled-down dress rehearsal for Stone Europe. Greg Koch is on a plane Monday morning to Munich to work on the European expansion.
